Multiple Casualties Reported in Akron, Ohio Shooting Incident After Midnight

Akron, Ohio – One person has tragically lost their life, and at least 24 others have been injured in a shooting that occurred in Akron, Ohio. The Akron Police Department is actively investigating the incident, which resulted in the death of a 27-year-old man and multiple injuries.

The shooting took place near Kelly and 8th Avenue right after midnight. Following numerous 9-1-1 calls reporting the shootings, victims started appearing at nearby hospitals. At the scene, authorities found a gun and several bullet casings but were unable to locate any suspects.

Witnesses described a street party taking place in the area before the shooting. According to reports, hundreds of people were present, with women dancing on vehicles and everyone wearing white T-shirts. The festive atmosphere quickly turned chaotic as shots rang out, changing the scene dramatically.

Hospitals in the area, including the Cleveland Clinic and Summa Health, reported treating multiple gunshot victims. The Cleveland Clinic admitted seven patients, one of whom is in critical condition. Summa Health treated 15 patients, with 13 reported as having non-life-threatening injuries.

In response to the tragic event, Akron Mayor Shammas Malik and Akron Police Chief Brian Harding released a joint statement expressing their shock and sorrow at the violence. They vowed to bring those responsible to justice and urged the community to come forward with any information that could help in the investigation.
