Kyiv, Ukraine – A viral image circulating online claims to show plumes of smoke rising from the headquarters of Ukraine’s security service in Kyiv after a supposed missile attack by Russia. The image, shared on social media platforms like Facebook and X (formerly known as Twitter), initially sparked rumors of a targeted strike on the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in the capital city.
However, a reverse image search reveals that the photograph actually captures the aftermath of the collapsed port silos in Beirut, Lebanon, in August 2022. The collapse occurred following a fire at the port in July and was not related to any missile attack in Ukraine.
Reports from Ukrainian media indicate that Russian forces launched two ballistic missiles from Crimea towards Kyiv, specifically aimed at the SBU offices on March 25. Fortunately, the Ukrainian Air Force intercepted both missiles before they could reach their intended target, preventing any damage to the SBU headquarters.
