DERRY, N.H. – A man in Derry was critically injured on Sunday night due to an explosion and fire. Bystanders bravely pulled the man out of the burning home, located at 607 Chases Grove Road. The incident occurred around 7:40 p.m., where approximately half of the manufactured home was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.
Concerns arose about potential entrapment inside the home, but luckily, bystanders were able to rescue the man before first responders arrived. The injured individual, whose identity remains undisclosed, was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
It took firefighters around 45 minutes to contain the fire, considering the lack of fire hydrants in the confined neighborhood. Despite the challenges, the responders successfully prevented the fire from spreading to other nearby homes. Battalion Chief Gregory Laro highlighted the rural aspect of the area, emphasizing the need for tanker shuttles to combat the blaze.
The state fire marshal’s office has been involved in investigating the cause of the fire, which remains unidentified. The circumstances surrounding the explosion and subsequent fire are under scrutiny to determine the events leading up to the unfortunate incident.
