Man Left with Life-Changing Injuries After Being Nailed to Fence in Co Antrim Incident

Bushmills, Co Antrim – A horrifying incident took place in Bushmills, Co Antrim, where a man suffered potentially life-changing injuries after being nailed to a fence, an act described as “especially appalling.”

Authorities are calling for the perpetrators of this heinous crime to be swiftly brought to justice. In addition to nailing the man to a fence, the culprits also set two vehicles on fire in the early hours of Sunday in Bushmills, marking the third violent assault in just over a year in this small village near the Giant’s Causeway.

The victim, a man in his twenties, was found with nails driven through each hand, alongside two burnt-out vans in Dundarave Park’s car park. Graffiti discovered on nearby public toilets has been linked to the assault and arson.

Despite sustaining injuries to his nose, the victim’s condition is fortunately not life-threatening, as reported by medical personnel who treated him at the hospital.

The attack occurred in a residential area near several holiday lets that were expected to be busy during the bank holiday weekend, according to police reports. Authorities are deeming the assault as “sinister” and have emphasized the potentially life-altering nature of the injuries inflicted upon the victim.

Various lawmakers and public figures have condemned the violent attack, with Alliance North Antrim MLA Sian Mulholland highlighting the particularly appalling nature of the incident and expressing her sympathies for the victim.

TUV leader Jim Allister also expressed dismay over the cruel assault, calling it gruesome. Meanwhile, the PSNI is urging any witnesses or individuals with dashcam footage of the area to come forward and assist in their investigation.
