Canterbury, Kent – A violent assault on a Dover shopkeeper has led to the imprisonment of Kurt Collins, 35, who left the victim seriously injured following an altercation on Sunday, September 16, 2023. The incident unfolded near Snargate Street in Dover, where a heated argument between Collins and a shop staff member escalated abruptly.
Following the dispute inside the store, Collins retreated to his van, prompting the shopkeeper to confront him outside. The situation quickly turned aggressive, with Collins resorting to damaging the shop using a metal levelling edge from his van. When the shopkeeper confronted him once more, Collins unleashed a violent attack using a tool and a bat, resulting in serious head injuries for the victim.
Law enforcement officials from Kent Police swiftly responded to the scene, identifying Collins as the suspect and arresting him in the immediate aftermath. Following a trial at Canterbury Crown Court, Collins was found guilty of unlawful wounding on April 19, 2024. As a result, he was sentenced to four years in prison, with an additional two-month term for causing criminal damage to the shop.
