Man Indicted for Aggravated Murder, Rape, and Kidnapping in Columbus Hotel Death

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A man faces charges of aggravated murder, aggravated burglary, kidnapping, rape, and strangulation in connection with the death of a 61-year-old woman at a north Columbus hotel. The Franklin County grand jury indicted Arthur Scott Jr., 36, on Monday in what authorities described as a “brutal attack” that led to the woman’s death.

The court documents from the Franklin County Municipal Court revealed that Columbus Division of Police officers responded to a call at the Double Ten Hotel on Zumstein Drive on April 26, where they discovered the woman, identified as Li-Chu Lin, deceased with severe injuries from the attack. Surveillance footage from the hotel showed Scott wandering down the hallway, checking doors for entry before encountering Lin.

After Lin entered the room, Scott was captured on video leaving shortly after. Lin was later found naked inside the room with evidence of physical injuries and other crimes, including rape. Scott was apprehended a short distance from the hotel on Saturday and confessed to the murder and related offenses during police questioning.

Moreover, the grand jury noted Scott as a repeated violent offender, referencing a prior criminal case from May 28, 2020. In court, Scott was granted a $2 million bond and is set to appear in the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas.

The details surrounding the tragic events at the north Columbus hotel continue to unfold as the investigation progresses. The indictment against Scott illustrates the severity of the charges he faces and the tragic loss of Li-Chu Lin’s life in the wake of the alleged brutal attack. The community awaits further developments in the case as justice seeks to bring closure to this heartbreaking incident.
