Man in Columbus Charged with Murder, Rape, and Kidnapping in Brutal Attack on 61-Year-Old Woman

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A man from Columbus is facing serious charges of murder, rape, and kidnapping after a horrific incident that took place on the North Side of the city. Arthur Scott Jr., 36, was arrested on Saturday morning at a clinic on the West Side, in connection with the death of 61-year-old Li-Chu Lin.

Authorities discovered Lin on Friday night at an extended stay hotel on Zumstein Drive, where she was found with severe injuries from what appeared to be a brutal attack. Despite their efforts, Lin tragically passed away at the scene.

According to police reports, surveillance footage from the hotel showed Scott entering a room shortly before Lin, and later leaving without a baseball hat that was seen on him before entering. Investigators believe that Scott assaulted Lin by hitting her multiple times in the head, kneeling on her neck, and sexually assaulting her.

Scott, who recently served time in prison for abduction in another county, remains in custody at the Franklin County jail. The suspect reportedly confessed to his involvement in Lin’s death and other criminal activities.

Officials are set to arraign Scott in Franklin County Municipal Court on Monday morning. The community is left reeling from the shocking and tragic events that have unfolded, as they grapple with the heinous nature of the crimes committed.
