Man Found Guilty in Fatal 2020 Shootings at Connecticut Commuter Lot

Springfield, Massachusetts – A jury in Superior Court convicted 24-year-old Gregory Crichlow of two counts of murder and one count of murder with special circumstances in relation to the 2020 deaths of 24-year-old Gregory Scott, Jr., and 20-year-old Jennifer Hicks at a commuter lot near a mall in Manchester. The verdict came after the victims were shot in a gathering of about 100 vehicles attending illegal car “races” near The Shoppes at Buckland Hills in August 2020.

According to court records, a witness saw a pickup truck arrive at the lot, followed by a man who opened fire on Scott and Hicks through the driver’s side window of their Jeep Wrangler. Both victims succumbed to their injuries in the days after the shooting. Investigators linked Crichlow to the crime through video footage from a gas station and messages exchanged with the victims prior to the incident.

Allegedly, there was a dispute between Crichlow, a member of the Knox Street gang, and Scott, who was associated with the Sycamore Street posse. Text messages revealed Scott’s intentions to harm Crichlow, prompting investigators to believe that the shooting was a result of their feud. Further evidence from social media interactions and witness testimonies corroborated the prosecution’s case against Crichlow.

State Police Detective Michael Grabowski and Deputy Sheriff Dan Iozzi were praised for their work on the investigation by the Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice. Crichlow’s sentencing is scheduled for June 26 in Hartford Superior Court. The trial shed light on the tragic events that unfolded in the commuter lot near the mall, bringing justice to the families of the victims and closure to a community affected by the senseless violence.
