Man Brutally Attacked on West Hollywood Sidewalk, Perpetrator Still at Large

West Hollywood, California – Authorities are currently searching for the suspect behind a brutal and unprovoked attack that left a man hospitalized with severe injuries. The victim, identified as David Velasquez, was assaulted on a sidewalk in West Hollywood, recounting the traumatic incident that occurred on March 17th.

Velasquez was riding a scooter home from the store when he was viciously attacked by a 30-year-old white male described as six feet tall. The assault left Velasquez with head trauma and severe injuries, prompting him to speak out about the harrowing experience.

“I was lucky to have survived,” Velasquez stated, reflecting on the moment his attacker repeatedly pounded his head into the ground. Witnesses reported that the assailant hurled homophobic slurs at Velasquez before physically assaulting him on the sidewalk near Santa Monica Boulevard and Hancock Avenue.

Despite bystanders recording the attack on their cell phones, no one intervened until a passing motorist stopped to help Velasquez. The West Hollywood Sheriff’s Department is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.
