HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A tragic incident unfolded in north Harris County resulting in the arrest of a man for the alleged murder of his mother. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office revealed that the shooting took place on Verde Trails Drive, leading to a chilling discovery.
Deputies initially responded to a distress call at the location late on a Saturday night. Despite an initial search and communication with neighbors, they found no signs of unusual activity and left. However, a subsequent alarm hours later prompted their return to the scene, where they discovered the garage door open.
Upon further investigation, the deputies entered the residence and found the lifeless body of a woman with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was identified as 52-year-old Anna Iris Melendez, with her son, 27-year-old Christopher Melendez, now facing murder charges for her death.
The arrest of Christopher Melendez came following a brief attempt to flee law enforcement officers on a traffic-related offense. The sheriff’s office confirmed his incarceration at the Harris County Jail, though a mugshot of him was not immediately available, leaving many questions unanswered in this tragic case.
