Melonba, Sydney’s West – A tragic incident unfolded in Melonba, Sydney’s West, where a man was allegedly killed by his MMA mentor during what was supposed to be a sparring session. The victim, Bradley Evennett, 32, was described as a ‘gentle giant’ by friends and family. The body of Evennett was discovered by authorities on Georgina Ave in Melonba, near Mount Druitt, after he had reportedly visited his friend and mentor, Bradley Fletcher, 38, for the sparring session.
According to reports, Fletcher is accused of driving to Georgina Ave and abandoning Evennett’s body in a bush before being involved in a car crash and subsequently taken into custody by the police. Fletcher has been charged with murder in connection with Evennett’s death and was denied bail at Parramatta Local Court.
Evennett’s relatives shared that he and Fletcher had been long-time friends, with Fletcher taking Evennett under his wing as he was new to MMA. Neighbors mentioned seeing people arriving at Fletcher’s residence for the sparring event, which had taken place on the same day Fletcher moved into the home on Annan Ave, just 700 meters from where Evennett’s body was found. Crime scene investigators were present at the residence on Sunday as part of ongoing investigations.
The tragic incident has left the community in shock, as tributes poured in for Evennett, reflecting on his kind nature and the loss felt by those who knew him. CCTV footage from the area captured a black car leaving the scene, which led police to the vehicle allegedly used to transport Evennett to the location where his body was discovered. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Evennett’s death continues, as authorities work to piece together the events leading up to the tragic incident.
