Malik Monk leads Sacramento Kings to overtime victory over Memphis Grizzlies

Sacramento, California – Malik Monk put on a stellar performance on Monday night, scoring 12 of his 28 points in overtime to lead the Sacramento Kings to a 121-111 victory over the visiting Memphis Grizzlies. Monk also contributed six rebounds and six assists to secure the win for the Kings.

The Kings, who have been on a winning streak, saw Domantas Sabonis record his 50th consecutive double-double with 25 points and 18 rebounds. De’Aaron Fox also had an impressive game with 23 points, 10 assists, seven rebounds, and three steals. Keegan Murray and Harrison Barnes added to the Kings’ scoring with 15 and 11 points, respectively.

On the other end, Jaren Jackson Jr. led the Grizzlies with 25 points and four blocked shots, before fouling out. Desmond Bane, GG Jackson, and Santi Aldama also contributed to Memphis’ efforts, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win.

Monk’s clutch plays in overtime, including four straight baskets and two technical free throws, propelled the Kings to a 121-111 lead with just over a minute remaining. The Kings managed to close out the game with a strong 16-6 run in overtime.

Both teams struggled with their shooting percentages, with the Kings shooting 44.7% from the field and the Grizzlies shooting 37.8%. Despite the challenges, the Kings were able to come out on top with their resilience and solid defense.

The game saw a competitive back-and-forth between the two teams, with the Kings taking an early lead but the Grizzlies fighting back to even the score in the fourth quarter. Ultimately, it was Monk’s standout performance in overtime that sealed the victory for Sacramento.

The Kings’ victory was dampened by the loss of Kevin Huerter to a left shoulder injury early in the game. However, the team showed resilience and depth in the face of adversity to secure the win.
