Louisiana Teen Sentenced to Life in Prison for Brutal Carjacking and Dragging Death of 73-Year-Old Grandmother

New Orleans, Louisiana – John Honore, an 18-year-old involved in a brutal carjacking incident in 2022, has been sentenced to life in prison for the death of Linda Frickey. Frickey, a 73-year-old grandmother, was dragged down the street during the carjacking, resulting in her arm being severed and ultimately leading to her death.

The sentencing brings a sense of closure to Frickey’s family, who expressed relief that “justice was served” and hope that Honore will remain incarcerated for the rest of his life. Testimonies given outside the courthouse described Honore as lacking remorse and deserving of the consequences of his actions.

The incident occurred in March 2022 when Frickey was targeted during a carjacking by four teenagers as she loaded her car outside a business in the New Orleans’ Mid-City neighborhood. The act led to a harrowing and fatal ordeal for Frickey, causing significant physical harm to her before her death.

In the aftermath of the tragedy, Honore and the three girls with him were charged in connection to Frickey’s death. While Honore was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison, the three girls received 20-year prison sentences and will serve at least 15 years behind bars for their involvement in the incident.

Despite Honore’s potential for parole in 25 years due to his age at the time of the offense, Frickey’s family finds solace in knowing that justice prevailed and brings closure to their ordeal. The community hopes that this sentencing will serve as a deterrent to future criminal behavior and ensures continued safety for the public.
