BRIDGEPORT, Connecticut – A man extradited from Louisiana now faces charges in connection with a violent machete attack at a Bridgeport high school last summer. Gerald W. Valle, 22, was arrested in Pine Prairie, Louisiana, and flown back to Connecticut to confront the allegations surrounding the incident at Central High School in June 2023.
Police were alerted to the assault at around 8:15 p.m. on June 18, 2023, at the high school. Upon arrival, they discovered a 26-year-old man from Bridgeport with a severe abdominal wound. The victim was promptly transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
Investigative efforts revealed that the victim was intentionally singled out and viciously attacked with a machete near the baseball field close to John F. Kennedy Stadium. Valle, identified as the assailant, faced a slew of charges upon being brought back to Bridgeport, including first-degree assault, first-degree criminal attempted assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, and third-degree assault.
With a bond set at $300,000, Valle awaited his appearance in Bridgeport Superior Court the following Monday. Among those commended for their dedicated efforts in securing Valle’s arrest were Bridgeport Police Detective Jose Bahr and the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force, as acknowledged by Captain Kevin Gilleran.
