Local Man Found Dead in Garage, Suspect Arrested and Detained

Hamilton, Ohio – A 41-year-old man named Oviedo was tragically found dead on April 1st, prompting an investigation by Hamilton Police. The discovery occurred after officers responded to a call reporting a body in the 1100 block of South 13th Street. It is believed that the suspect, Garcia-Gutierrez, committed the homicide two days before his arrest on separate charges.

Details from a 911 call, accessed through public records laws, revealed a male caller speaking in both English and Spanish. The caller’s words were difficult to comprehend, even with the assistance of an interpreter, as he reported finding a deceased individual in a garage. He mentioned not having seen the person for a couple of days before making the grim discovery upon his return.

After a preliminary hearing on April 10th at Hamilton Municipal Court, Garcia-Gutierrez’s case was forwarded to a grand jury for further proceedings. He is currently being held without bond at Butler County Jail. Sheriff Richard Jones mentioned Garcia-Gutierrez in a press conference, criticizing the Biden Administration’s immigration and border policies. The sheriff highlighted Garcia-Gutierrez’s previous arrests for various charges, including carrying a concealed weapon and obstruction, as well as his history of multiple deportations to Mexico.

Jones pointed out that Garcia-Gutierrez had been to prison three times and deported seven times, continually re-entering the country despite deportation. The sheriff expressed frustration over the challenges posed by individuals like Garcia-Gutierrez, who repeatedly circumvent immigration laws. Such cases exemplify the complexities and controversies surrounding immigration enforcement and border security in the United States.
