Local Hero Volunteer Firefighter Brian Diamond Heads Home After Surviving House Explosion

STERLING, VIRGINIA – After a month-long stay at the Washington Hospital Center burn unit, volunteer firefighter Brian Diamond is finally heading home. His departure marks the beginning of a significant journey towards recovery following the harrowing house explosion in Sterling that tragically claimed the life of one of his colleagues.

Diamond’s release from the hospital comes after a challenging period of healing from the injuries he sustained during the gas leak response that led to the fatal explosion. Despite the hardships he faced, Diamond expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support he received during his time in the hospital.

Upon leaving the medical facility, Diamond made a heartfelt stop at the fire station to reunite with his fellow first responders, who welcomed him with open arms. Despite the physical and emotional toll of the incident, Diamond conveyed a sense of relief at being out of the hospital and on the path to recovery.
