Pyote, Texas – Crews swiftly responded to a significant pipeline fire outside Pyote, causing a commotion near westbound Interstate 20. The Monahans Volunteer Fire Department rushed to the scene after reports of an explosion along the westbound I-20 south service road at mile marker 57.
Upon arrival, responders discovered a pipeline rupture at an oilfield site between mile marker 66 and 57. Working tirelessly for approximately nine hours, units alongside the Wickett Fire Department focused on extinguishing the fire that had engulfed a structure and electrical poles once the pipeline was shut off.
Additional support came from the Ward County Sheriff’s Office and Ward County Precinct Four, who assisted in securing the area and ensuring water trucks were readily available. The West Odessa Fire Rescue contributed manpower and deployed a thermal drone to identify any lingering hot spots.
