Joe Biden Calls For the Wealthy To Pay Their Fair Share Of Taxes, While His Son Pleads Out To Tax Evasion

According to a press release from Weiss ‘ team, U.S. Attorney David Weiss’s ongoing investigation into Hunter Biden remains active despite a plea deal. The release stated that Biden had been charged with two misdemeanor tax offenses and a felony firearm offense. However, Biden, 53, has agreed to plead guilty to the tax charges and enter a pretrial diversion agreement for the gun violation, pending scheduling by a U.S. district court judge.

Under the terms of the arrangement, the Department of Justice (DOJ) is expected to recommend probation for the tax charges. If Biden adheres to the conditions of the pretrial agreement regarding the firearm offense, the case will likely be expunged from his record, as reported by the Associated Press.

Biden’s attorney, Chris Clark, believed the deal signifies the resolution of the years-long federal inquiry into his client. He stated, “With the announcement of two agreements between my client, Hunter Biden, and the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Delaware, it is my understanding that the five-year investigation into Hunter is resolved.”

This ongoing probe could pose a challenge for President Joe Biden, Hunter’s father, as he seeks re-election in 2024. Following the announcement of the plea agreement, Republican opponents of the elder Biden swiftly voiced their objections. Former President Donald Trump criticized the DOJ’s handling of the case, likening it to a “mere traffic ticket.” Furthermore, GOP lawmakers pledged to continue their own investigations into the Biden family.

Foreign business dealings may be a subject of continued inquiry for federal prosecutors. Former Attorney General William Barr disclosed that he had referred allegations made by an FBI informant regarding a Ukrainian business executive’s involvement in a $5 million bribery scheme with Joe and Hunter Biden to Delaware for further investigation.

The tax violations stem from Hunter Biden’s failure to pay over $100,000 in federal income taxes for the years 2017 and 2018, despite earning more than $1.5 million in each of those years. Sources revealed last year that Biden received a loan of over $2 million from Hollywood lawyer Kevin Morris, which was used to settle his tax debts under investigation by federal authorities.

Weiss reported that Biden was caught with a firearm, even though he knew he was not allowed to have one due to being addicted to a controlled substance. This information was from October 2018.
The agreement reached between the two parties still requires approval from a judge. If convicted of the firearm charge, Biden may face up to 10 years of imprisonment at most.

The U.S. attorney’s investigation has faced upheaval due to an Internal Revenue Service whistleblower’s claims of misconduct and mishandling of the case, potentially for political reasons. It’s ironic that even though Biden has been emphasizing the importance of the wealthy paying their fair share of taxes during his campaign, it seems that he may have forgotten to communicate this message to his son.
