EAST LANSDOWNE, Pa. – Authorities are currently engaged in a rigorous recovery effort at the site of a tragic incident that took place in East Lansdowne, Delaware County. Two officers were shot at the location, which was later engulfed in flames. Thus far, the remains of three members of the Le family have been discovered within the burned-down home, while the other three family members remain unaccounted for, Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer revealed on Thursday. The events that transpired at the Lewis Avenue residence have left the community reeling, with many struggling to comprehend the magnitude of the tragedy.
According to Chin Le, who identified herself as the mother of the alleged shooter, the sequence of events was unimaginable. Through a family doctor, Khan Che, she conveyed that her son is believed to be responsible for the shooting and subsequent fire. Che disclosed that Khan Le had been engaged in an argument with his 10-year-old nephew prior to the shooting. Tragically, Chin Le reported that her son ultimately ended the lives of five people, including three children, before taking his own life. The Le family, who migrated from Vietnam over four decades ago, had been long-term residents of East Lansdowne.
Chin Le described her son as being 44 years old, recently divorced, and unemployed. Che mentioned that when inquired about her son’s well-being, Chin Le insisted that he was completely normal, with no known medical or mental health issues. The tragic nature of the events has left many in shock and grief. The community continues to grapple with the aftermath of the incident as authorities carry out the challenging task of recovering the remaining family members and piecing together the details of the devastating events.
