HOUSTON, TX – Two parents are facing murder charges after their 4-month-old daughter was found dead in a West Harris County motel room. The discovery of Baby Brooklyn Faner’s body in May 2024 led to an extensive investigation, ultimately resulting in the arrest of her parents, Destiny Campos and Jeremy Fancher, along with a third individual.
Court documents reveal that Baby Brooklyn was found in a dresser drawer, where she had been placed repeatedly. This tragic case has sent shockwaves through the community, raising questions about parental neglect and responsibility.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Day’s Inn on Rancho Mission Drive after receiving reports of the infant’s death. Campos allegedly informed investigators that Fancher was often disturbed by Brooklyn’s cries, which he found intolerable. As a result, the baby was confined to the drawer, sometimes with a towel to keep it closed.
Fancher claimed he left the drawer open when he went out for groceries on the morning of Brooklyn’s death, only to return and find it closed. The medical examiner confirmed that suffocation was the cause of death, a finding that has deeply impacted the community.
A housekeeper at the motel reported finding Campos asleep while the baby cried from the drawer. Despite urging management to report the situation to authorities, no action was taken, and Campos reportedly dismissed the concerns with laughter.
Family members disclosed that Fancher, fearing Campos might leave him, locked valuables, including an infant bed, in his car. This revelation adds another layer of complexity to the case, highlighting a troubled family dynamic.
Now in custody, the parents face severe charges as the community grapples with the loss. The case emphasizes the critical need for vigilance and timely intervention to protect vulnerable children.
