Gabby Petito’s Heartbreaking Letter to Abusive Boyfriend Revealed in FBI Documents

NORTH PORT, Fla. – Newly released documents by the FBI shed light on the tragic case of Gabby Petito, a 22-year-old whose disappearance and murder captured national attention. In a handwritten letter to her abusive boyfriend, Brian Laundrie, Petito pleaded for him to stop belittling her, emphasizing their supposed teamwork. The letter, part of over 350 pages of FBI documents, was unveiled years after her remains were discovered in Wyoming’s Bridger-Teton National Forest.

Laundrie, Petito’s fiancĂ©, confessed to killing her during a cross-country trip they documented on social media platforms. Following the incident, Laundrie returned home to Florida without Petito, prompting a widespread search for the missing woman. Her remains were eventually found in September of the same year, sparking a closer examination of the events leading up to her tragic death.

Months prior to Petito’s disappearance, police in Moab, Utah responded to an incident involving the couple, which a later review deemed should have been treated as a domestic violence call. The last known contact with Petito was an “odd text” on August 27, escalating concerns about her wellbeing and whereabouts.

Tragically, Laundrie later took his own life, leaving behind written confessions of his responsibility for Petito’s death. Although the circumstances surrounding her demise were harrowing, authorities determined that Petito had been strangled, adding a chilling layer to the already heartbreaking case.

Despite the intense media coverage and attention given to Petito’s disappearance, her parents are now advocating for more awareness of other missing individuals. They hope to redirect the spotlight onto those whose loved ones are still searching for answers, emphasizing the importance of community support in such cases.

In a recent interview, Joe Petito, Gabby’s father, expressed gratitude for the outpouring of help they received during their ordeal and highlighted their commitment to pay it forward by assisting other families in similar situations. Through their website, the Petito family is working to raise awareness for missing persons beyond their own tragic experience, hoping to bring more attention and resources to those in need.
