Friends Turned Killers: Indictment for Murder After Human Remains Found in Long Island

RIVERHEAD, N.Y. – Two individuals have been indicted for murder after the discovery of human remains scattered across parts of Long Island. Alexis Nieves and Jeffrey Mackey are facing charges for the deaths of Malcolm Brown and Donna Conneely, whom prosecutors allege were killed and dismembered by the accused.

The heinous crime took place in a rental home in Amityville, where a group of friends turned against each other, leading to a tragic outcome. Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney described the incident as a situation where six individuals entered the house, but only four emerged, leaving law enforcement to piece together the events that transpired.

Details of the allegations suggest a brutal and violent attack, with Nieves reportedly using a meat tenderizer on Conneely’s head and neck, followed by Mackey strangling her. Brown was then allegedly stabbed to death and dismembered. The victims’ remains were found among branches and leaves in Babylon and Bethpage.

Defense attorneys for Nieves and Mackey have maintained their clients’ innocence, arguing that the wrong suspects have been implicated in the crime. The suspects’ legal representatives have raised concerns about the prosecution’s witnesses and the lack of clarity in the case.

The motive behind the murders appears to stem from a dispute over a robbery at a gas station in Copiague, with allegations that Brown and Conneely orchestrated the theft, which Nieves and Mackey carried out. Arguments over drugs and money may have also played a role in the tragic events.

At a recent arraignment, Mackey was remanded without bail, while Nieves’s bond was set at $10 million. Both suspects pleaded not guilty to the charges. Two other individuals, Steven Brown and Amanda Wallace, who were also implicated in the case, are set to appear in court to face grand jury charges.

As the investigation continues and more details emerge, the community remains shocked by the brutality of the crimes committed and the tragic loss of life in Long Island.
