Friends Surrender After Murder of Man Missing from Erode Home

BHAWANI, INDIA – A man from Erode who went missing four days ago has been found murdered by three of his friends who surrendered at the Bhavani police station on Sunday, December 31, 2023. According to police, S. Ayyandurai, 30, had been unemployed for six months and left his home on December 27, not returning since. His parents and relatives filed a missing person report with the Bhavani police, who then discovered CCTV footage showing the victim meeting with his friends last.

On Sunday, December 31, the three friends, Vel, 23, Parthiban, 27, and Karthick, 24, surrendered to the police. It was revealed that the group, along with the victim, were consuming alcohol near a graveyard when an altercation broke out, resulting in the friends assaulting Ayyandurai and ultimately leading to his death. The three friends then left the victim in some bushes and fled the scene.

Upon learning of the murder, over 50 relatives of the victim staged a roadblock at Jambai Junction, demanding justice and preventing the police from transporting the body for autopsy. After negotiations, the protest was dispersed, and the body was taken to the Government Erode Medical College and Hospital at Perundurai.

The following day, Monday, January 1, 2024, the three friends were arrested and a case of murder was registered against them. An autopsy was performed, and the body was released to the victim’s relatives. This tragic event has left the community shocked, as they grapple with the senseless loss of a young man’s life.
