Matthew Teran passed away due to fentanyl toxicity in his Fort Worth home on Nov. 6, 2023, as confirmed by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. The accused, Ramiro Limon, also 21, has been arrested and charged with murder in connection to the overdose.

The charges brought against Limon were made possible by a Texas law that had recently been enforced, coming into effect just two months before Teran’s untimely passing. Described as a dedicated athlete and scholar, Teran was the recipient of several academic accolades and sports medals.

Teran’s family also shared that he was a deeply religious individual, passionate about theology and actively engaging in Bible studies. He had a love for music, enjoyed meeting new people, and had a particular fondness for his mother’s homemade sweets. Limon was apprehended on Feb. 29 and is currently in custody at the Tarrant County Jail, with a set bond of $100,000, according to official police and jail records.
