Egg Harbor Township, N.J. — A former congressional aide is facing serious legal repercussions after allegedly orchestrating a violent incident in which she inflicted injuries upon herself. Natalie Green, who has worked for Republican Congressman Jeff Van Drew, has been charged with conspiracy and making false statements to authorities.
According to the Department of Justice, Green reported to police on July 23 that she had been attacked by three assailants, claiming they bound her and threatened her with a gun. Responding officers discovered her in a wooded area, appearing distressed, with her arms and legs restrained and numerous cuts visible on her body, including markings that read “TRUMP WHORE” and “IS RACIST.”
The investigation revealed a different narrative, suggesting Green may have paid a body-modification artist to create the injuries. Evidence obtained from the artist’s workshop included a receipt for a $500 payment, indicating that Green had coordinated her own mutilation. Authorities also found restraints in her vehicle, and a search history on a co-conspirator’s phone included inquiries about purchasing zip ties shortly before the alleged attack.
Van Drew’s office, while confirming Green’s past employment, expressed sympathy regarding the incident. In a statement, an aide noted the former staffer is no longer affiliated with the congressional office, and they hope she receives the necessary support and assistance.
If convicted, Green faces significant prison time, with each charge carrying a potential maximum sentence of 10 years. She was released on a $200,000 bail following her initial court appearance, where she began to contest the allegations against her.
The case has garnered public interest due to its unusual and alarming circumstances, raising questions about mental health and the motivations behind such actions. As the legal proceedings unfold, additional insights into the case may emerge, further elucidating the events leading up to this shocking episode.
Green’s next court date is expected to provide more clarity on the charges she faces and the evidence against her, as both the public and her peers in politics await further developments.
