Father Suspected of Killing 17-Year-Old Twins in Florida Home

The discovery at a Hunter’s Creek-area home left investigators working to determine what happened before deputies arrived Wednesday.

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A request for a well-being check brought Orange County deputies to a home Wednesday, where they discovered 17-year-old twins and their father dead inside, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

The discovery on Courtney Chase Circle has led to an investigation into what authorities believe was a murder-suicide involving three members of one family. Deputies identified the teenagers as twins Carlo Montiel Infantino and Melanie Montiel Infantino and identified their father as Ivan Montiel Roa.

Deputies responded Sept. 30 to the 1200 block of Courtney Chase Circle, in the Hunter’s Creek area near Town Center Boulevard and State Road 417. Authorities have not said who requested the well-being check or what circumstances caused concern about the people inside the home.

After entering the residence, deputies found Carlo and Melanie dead in the living room. Investigators said both teenagers had suffered multiple stab wounds. Roa was found dead in the master bathroom, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives said they believe Roa killed his children and then took his own life. The Sheriff’s Office has not released a suspected motive, and officials have not provided a detailed timeline of what investigators believe happened before deputies arrived.

The limited information released so far leaves several aspects of the case unresolved. Authorities have not publicly said when the three deaths occurred, how long family members may have been inside the home or what information led to the request that deputies check on their welfare.

Officials also have not disclosed whether there were earlier calls for service involving the residence or whether investigators found any information inside the home that could explain the deaths. No additional person has been identified as a suspect in connection with the case.

The Sheriff’s Office has characterized its conclusion about the father’s role as what detectives currently believe based on the investigation. The agency has not announced that the case is closed, and additional investigative findings have not been released.

Detectives continued investigating Friday. The Sheriff’s Office said the inquiry remains ongoing, with significant details about the events leading to the deaths still not publicly known.
