NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A fatal shooting occurred in an alley between Hayes and Church streets in the early hours of Saturday morning, leaving one person dead and another injured, according to Metro Nashville Police. The victim of the shooting has been identified as Christopher Cheeks, 32, who tragically lost his life in the incident. Another man, 29 years old, was also wounded during the altercation.
Homicide detectives are actively pursuing leads in the case, indicating that Cheeks was with a group of friends when they encountered three individuals who attempted to rob them. The situation, which initially seemed cordial, quickly escalated when gunshots were fired, resulting in injuries to the 29-year-old victim. In a panic, the victims scattered in different directions, with the injured man being discovered on Church Street and rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for medical attention.
