Family of Slain Texas Woman Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Barraza Still Seeking Answers 5 Years Later

Tomball, Texas – Five years have passed since the tragic killing of 29-year-old Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Barraza while she was setting up for a garage sale outside her home. Despite surveillance video capturing the chilling moment of the shooting, the murder remains unsolved, leaving her family desperate for answers.

Barraza was fatally shot just before 7am on January 25, 2019, in what Harris County officials consider one of the county’s most baffling unsolved cases. The perpetrator, disguised and wielding a revolver, approached Barraza, shot her, and then fled in a dark Nissan Frontier.

In a heartbreaking twist, Barraza’s husband, Sergio Barraza, had just left for work when the tragic incident unfolded. The victim’s father, Bob Nuelle Jr., described the day as the worst in his life, emphasizing the pain and sorrow that continue to linger.

During an interview with ABC13, Nuelle expressed his belief that the killing was a targeted attack rather than a random act of violence. He suggested that the shooter may have been paid to carry out the heinous crime, complicating the investigative process as the family remains unaware of the identities of the potential masterminds behind the murder.

Despite the family’s theory, the motive for targeting Liz, who was actively involved in charitable activities like visiting sick children in hospitals, remains a perplexing mystery. The couple was on the brink of celebrating their fifth wedding anniversary when tragedy struck.

Looking ahead, Sergio Barraza, now remarried, holds onto hope that justice will prevail, yearning for the day when those responsible for Liz’s untimely death will be brought to account. The family’s relentless pursuit for closure has led to the creation of a website dedicated to the case, urging anyone with information to come forward and assist authorities in solving the case.

As the investigation continues, the reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individuals behind Liz Barraza’s murder has now been raised to $50,000 (£40,100). The family remains vigilant in their quest for justice, hopeful that someone with crucial information will step forward and bring a sense of closure to this enduring tragedy.
