Family Feud Turns Violent: Three Relatives Arrested After Assaulting Boyfriend Over Misunderstanding in Kuala Lumpur

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — Authorities have detained three relatives in connection with an assault on a man’s boyfriend following a misunderstanding last Saturday in Kampung Cheras Baru. The suspects, whose ages range from 24 to 56, were apprehended by the Ampang Jaya District Police at around 4:30 PM the same day.

According to police reports, the incident began around 1:40 AM when a 22-year-old man was dropping off his girlfriend. A confrontation arose with her two older brothers, escalating into violence. One of the brothers allegedly struck the victim with a PVC pipe and punched him, resulting in injuries that included a broken nose. The victim sought medical treatment at Ampang Hospital shortly after the encounter.

The woman’s uncle is also accused of making threats against the victim, warning him not to see his girlfriend again. Following the incident, the victim filed a police report at 4:50 AM, leading to the swift arrest of the suspects. Authorities also confiscated evidence, including the pipe believed to have been used in the attack.

Police Chief Khairul Anuar Khalid noted that one of the arrested individuals has a criminal history. The suspects are currently being held for four days under Section 325 of the Malaysian Penal Code while investigations continue.

In a separate incident, police arrested four men, including three foreigners, in connection with a road rage case that occurred on November 14 in Bukit Ampang. The victim, a Pakistani national, reported that he and two friends were threatened while stopped at a traffic light. The suspect confronted them and, after allegedly displaying an official card, began to significantly escalate the situation. Approximately 25 individuals reportedly surrounded the group, resulting in physical assault and damage to the victim’s vehicle.

The police have placed the suspects from this second incident in custody for a period ranging from three to six days as they investigate further under Sections 148 and 427 of the Penal Code. Authorities are urging witnesses to come forward to help establish a clearer picture of both incidents.
