Family and Friends Honor Bartlesville Shooting Victim One Year After Tragic Loss

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – Residents of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, gathered to commemorate the life of Codie King, who tragically lost his life to gun violence a year ago. King was fatally shot at the Brookhaven Apartments in the city, leaving his loved ones devastated.

According to his former girlfriend Jackie Wilson, King was involved in a confrontation with an intruder at the apartment complex, which led to the fatal shooting. The shooter, Colton Tallchief, confessed to the crime and pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter, as documented in court records.

During Tallchief’s plea, he revealed that he and another individual, Joshua Brown, had gone to the apartment to pick up a girl. Upon arriving, Tallchief encountered Brown and King in a physical altercation, leading to the deadly outcome. The shooting was described as a result of sudden provocation and passion.
