Decatur, Illinois – The Decatur Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in resolving an armed robbery that resulted in a shooting last week. The incident took place on January 23 at 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of North Morgan Street and East Grand Avenue, prompting a response from Decatur Police. According to reports, the victim had just utilized an ATM machine at a nearby convenience store when an assailant brandishing a chrome-colored handgun demanded money from him. The suspect is described as a 19 to 20-year-old, light-skinned Black man wearing a gray and black-colored hooded shirt, gray-colored sweatpants, and a black ski mask at the time of the crime. Decatur Police are encouraging the public to come forward with any relevant information regarding the incident, and reassured that information can be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers. Tipsters with pertinent information leading to an arrest in this case may be eligible for a reward of $500 or more, as disclosed by Decatur Police.
