This outbreak has affected 11 people and resulted in one death, with cases reported in seven different states. The affected fruits include peaches, nectarines, and plums that were sold between May 1, 2022, and November 15, 2023. The FDA discovered Listeria in samples of peaches, leading HMC Farms to issue a voluntary recall of the affected products, even though they are no longer available for sale in stores.
Listeria is a bacteria that poses a greater risk to pregnant individuals, those over the age of 65, and people with weakened immune systems.
