Cleveland Woman Indicted for Murder in Fatal Shooting Incident

Cleveland, Ohio – A Cleveland woman is facing charges related to the fatal shooting of Antwoina Carter last month. Trinity Ford, 19, has been indicted by a Cuyahoga County grand jury on charges of murder, felonious assault, and discharging a weapon on a public roadway. She is set to be arraigned in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court, with her bond set at $1 million.

Ford is accused of driving the car that chased Carter’s vehicle on March 17, during which the shooter in her car fired multiple shots at Carter on East 105th Street. Carter, a 26-year-old Cleveland resident, tragically succumbed to a gunshot wound to her back, with the incident being ruled as a homicide due to severe injuries to her heart and spine.

Following the shooting, Carter managed to drive by her mother’s residence on Garfield Avenue before crashing. The sequence of events unfolded while two Cleveland police officers were responding to a disturbance call at Carter’s mother’s home, with the officers witnessing the gunfire and Carter’s vehicle speeding towards them.

In light of the involvement of police in the shooting incident, the case has been handed over to Cuyahoga County sheriff’s deputies for further investigation. The indictment against Ford also includes a firearm specification that could potentially extend her prison sentence by five years if she is convicted, as it pertains to firing a weapon from a motor vehicle.

Ford’s defense attorney, Thomas Shaughnessy, stated that he had just been assigned to the case and refrained from making any comments on the matter at this time. Authorities continue to search for the individual who fired the fatal shots at Carter, as the legal proceedings against Ford progress in the coming days.
