Chicago Woman Recovers from Violent Attack in Series of Robberies Across City’s North and Northwest Sides

Chicago, Illinois – A young woman in Chicago is still grappling with the aftermath of a violent attack that law enforcement believes is part of a series of robberies in the city’s North and Northwest sides.

Twenty-two-year-old Kat recounted her harrowing experience when she was on her way to work one Friday morning. She described feeling a sudden tug on her bag, only to turn around and see a man in all black, wearing a black ski mask, striking her on the cheekbone.

The incident occurred on Kasson Avenue in the Mayfair neighborhood, one of nine robberies that occurred within a span of just two hours that morning. Similar circumstances were reported in another robbery back in February, where suspects approached victims in a car and used force or threats of violence with metal pipes or brass knuckles to steal belongings.

Kat shared that during the attack, at least one of the assailants was armed with a baton-like weapon resembling a pipe, leaving her with bruises on her face and enduring trauma. Despite trying to mentally prepare for such situations, the reality of experiencing such violence left her feeling unprepared and vulnerable.

In the hope of raising awareness and potentially preventing similar incidents, Kat bravely shared her story with the public. Law enforcement has stated that no suspects are currently in custody, underscoring the urgency of addressing these crimes in the community.
