Chaos in Times Square: NYPD Investigates Violent Night with 18 Suspects Sought After Stabbing and Assault

New York City – Another night of violence unfolded in Times Square, as the NYPD investigates two separate attacks, including a stabbing incident that left a 17-year-old in the hospital. The incidents occurred late on Thursday, with the police searching for 18 individuals believed to be connected to the attacks.

According to authorities, the attacks were preceded by an argument, although investigators do not believe the two incidents are linked. The 17-year-old victim was stabbed in the back near W. 42nd St. around 5:30 p.m. The New York Post reported that the victim and some of the suspects are believed to be migrants. Seven individuals have been taken into custody, with 16 others still being sought. The injured teenager was transported to Bellevue Hospital and is in stable condition.

In a separate attack two hours later, a 28-year-old man was repeatedly kicked in the head and face by a group of men. Three suspects have been apprehended, while two others remain at large. The NYPD is currently questioning those in custody and expects to file charges on Friday.

Coincidentally, the stabbing occurred near a migrant shelter where two NYPD officers were previously assaulted last month. The officers were reportedly attacked by up to 14 individuals while attempting to disperse a group of disorderly men near Times Square on January 27. Despite the initial arrest of four individuals, all suspects were later released without bail, sparking outrage in the community.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg faced backlash over the handling of the case, particularly the release of suspects on bail and the delay in filing indictments. Efforts to bring justice to those involved in the attacks have been ongoing, with Bragg expressing confidence in the progress of the investigation.

The incidents in Times Square have once again raised concerns about safety and security in the area, prompting renewed calls for vigilance and swift action to prevent future violence. As the investigation continues, authorities are working diligently to identify all those involved in the recent attacks and to ensure that justice is served.
