Cape Cod Native Remembered for Humor and Zest for Life After Tragic Miami Murder-Suicide

Miami, Florida – The community mourns the loss of Meghan Moore, a young woman from Cape Cod tragically killed in a murder-suicide in Miami earlier this month. Described as someone with a vibrant sense of humor and a passion for life, Moore’s untimely death has left many heartbroken.

According to Miami-Dade police, Moore, along with her roommate Sidney Capolino, was shot and killed on March 16 in their Miami condo by Luis Napoles, who then took his own life. Moore, originally from Centerville, was a talented athlete in high school and continued to pursue her love for hockey at New England College, where she graduated in 2021. Known for her warm smile, Moore also spent her summers working at Spanky’s Clam Shack in Hyannis, where her father worked as a manager.

Her obituary highlights Moore’s adventurous spirit as she had recently ventured into the Miami restaurant world. In honor of her memory, the Meghan Moore Foundation has been established to provide an annual scholarship for a deserving female student-athlete, reflecting Moore’s own determination and dedication. The foundation welcomes donations in lieu of flowers to support its mission.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at visiting hours for Moore at Our Lady of Victory in Centerville on Tuesday evening, followed by a funeral mass on Wednesday. The burial will take place at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Centerville, with a gathering at the Hyannis Yacht Club to follow the services.

Moore’s passing has deeply impacted those who knew her, as she leaves behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and passion. Her memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of being touched by her light.
