Brooklyn Woman Raped During Horrific Home Invasion by Masked Intruder: NYPD

NEW YORK – A woman in Brooklyn was the victim of a horrific home invasion over the weekend, according to police reports on Monday.

The incident occurred in Sunset Park around 6 p.m. on Saturday when two men broke into the woman’s home and assaulted her. One of the men proceeded to rape the 49-year-old woman before the perpetrators fled the scene, as reported by the authorities.

Following the assault, the victim was transported to a local hospital and is currently in stable condition, the police added.

Surveillance images of the two perpetrators were released by the NYPD, describing one as wearing a hoodie with light-colored pants, and the other wearing black pants, a white coat, and a wool hat. Both individuals are believed to be in their 30s and are approximately 5 feet 9 to 6 feet tall, according to the department.

Law enforcement authorities have urged anyone with information about the suspects to contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-577-TIPS or online at crimestoppers.nypdonline.org.

Amid the shocking incident, NYPD data revealed a decrease in reported rapes in the city compared to the previous year, with 1,401 reported cases as of Dec. 17, marking an 11% drop from the same period in 2022. However, there was a slight increase in the number of reported incidents last week compared to the previous year.

As investigations continue, the NYPD is actively seeking information to apprehend the suspects behind this heinous crime.
