Blast at Bengaluru’s Rameshwaram Cafe Injures Nine: Possible Improvised Explosive Device Suspected

Bengaluru, India – A suspected improvised explosive device (IED) caused an explosion at Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced on March 1. The blast, which occurred around noon, resulted in nine injuries, although all individuals are reportedly in stable condition.

Upon arriving at Mysuru airport, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah addressed reporters, stating that the police are actively investigating the incident. Preliminary information suggests that an individual entered the cafe with a bag which was later discovered to contain the explosive device. The suspect made a payment, received a token, had breakfast, and left the bag behind before the explosion occurred.

Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the cafe and questioning the cashier for further details to aid in the investigation. Home Minister G. Parameshwar has been instructed to visit the site of the explosion. Despite the small quantity of the explosive, the blast was powerful, according to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Notably, incidents of this nature have been rare in the state recently, and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah urged opposition leaders not to politicize the situation. He emphasized that the government will take strict action against those responsible for the explosion, ensuring justice is served.
