Bella Vista, Arkansas – A 17-year-old teenager from Bella Vista, Bryce Alijha Anderson, faces charges of first-degree murder and first-degree domestic battery in connection with the death of his four-month-old son. Court documents reveal that Anderson was the caregiver of the infant when he was found unconscious and not breathing on March 4.
According to an affidavit filed in Benton County, Anderson was alone with the child at the time of the incident. Anderson reported feeding the baby a bottle around 11:30 a.m., after which the child became unresponsive. Despite initially assuming the baby was asleep, Anderson called 911 an hour later when the child remained unresponsive.
The child was taken to Mercy Rogers for medical attention, where nurses noted no obvious signs of abuse. However, further examinations revealed that the child had suffered a brain bleed consistent with non-accidental trauma, likely caused by shaking. The child tragically succumbed to the injuries on April 7.
Police investigations and medical analyses implicated Anderson as the sole individual with access to the child during the time of the injuries. Based on witness statements and medical findings, Anderson’s upcoming court appearance on May 13 will address the allegations. He is currently being held on a $500,000 bond.
