ATV Accident in Alabama Claims Lives of Rome Parents, Injures Children

CHEROKEE COUNTY, AL – A recreational outing turned tragic when an ATV accident claimed the life of Marcus Ragland, 34, leaving his partner Ashley Hawkins and their children injured. The crash has left the Cherokee County community in shock.

The incident unfolded at Indian Mountain ATV Park, where Ragland and Hawkins were riding with seven children. The ATV collided with another vehicle, causing it to flip and crash into a tree. Ragland was ejected and died from his injuries.

Hawkins is recovering in the hospital, while their children, who range in age, sustained various injuries. The couple’s 13-year-old son is the most severely injured, with other children facing significant health challenges.

Family and friends are grappling with the sudden loss and are rallying to support the survivors. “Marcus lived boldly, and Ashley’s sweetness touched everyone,” a friend remarked.

The tragedy highlights the absence of safety regulations at the park. Officials are urging ATV users to prioritize safety and responsibility to prevent similar incidents.

A fundraising effort is underway to help the family with medical expenses and ongoing needs. The community is encouraged to contribute and offer support during this heartbreaking time.

As the community mourns, the memories of Marcus and Ashley continue to inspire those who knew them. Their legacy of love and adventure will be remembered by all.
