$20,000 Reward Offered for Clues After Compton Pool Party Turns Deadly, Leaving One Caterer Dead and Five Wounded

Compton, CA — A tragic shooting at a Compton pool party last week left one man dead and five others injured, prompting authorities to offer a $20,000 reward for information leading to the apprehension of the shooters.

The incident unfolded around 7:45 p.m. on June 7, near the intersection of Greenleaf Boulevard and Mayo Street, where a gathering of 200-300 people quickly descended into chaos as gunmen opened fire.

Deputies arrived to find 28-year-old Robert Abdelkader III lying near the backyard pool area, fatally wounded by gunshots. Abdelkader, who owned a catering business, was working at the party when he was shot. Officials pronounced him dead at the scene.

In the wake of the shooting, partygoers panicked, with large crowds seen fleeing the home. Two men and three women also sustained gunshot wounds, though none were life-threatening. They were transported to local hospitals for treatment.

As investigators combed through the backyard, examining overturned seating areas and scattered debris, it became apparent that multiple shooters were involved. Authorities believe Abdelkader was an unintended victim of the violence, which still has unclear motives.

In the days following the tragedy, detectives stated they believe numerous witnesses at the party could potentially identify the suspects. However, as of now, those responsible for the shooting are still at large.

In response to the horrific events, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has offered a $20,000 reward for any information that might help bring the shooters to justice.

The victim’s father, Robert Abdelkader Jr., expressed his despair, recalling his son as a community-oriented individual who founded his own business and frequently gave back to those around him. “He was always there to help,” Abdelkader Jr. said. “We need justice. Someone out there saw something; please come forward.”

During a press conference on Wednesday, authorities urged individuals who were at the party to submit any videos or photos they took, especially those that might have been shared on social media. “These digital footprints on your devices could be crucial in solving this case,” one of the lead investigators mentioned.

“We’re asking for the public’s help. No detail is too small. If you know something, saw something, or recorded anything, please get in touch,” stressed the victim’s mother, Inez Adkins, during the appeal. “Help us take a killer off the streets before another tragedy occurs.”

This fatal incident near Compton College has heightened concerns about community safety. Local law enforcement continues its search for clues and appeals to anyone with information to come forward.
