18-year-old Akron Man Charged in Two Separate Deadly Shootings from Last Year

Akron, Ohio – An 18-year-old man from Akron, Darrin Welch, is facing multiple charges in connection with two separate deadly shootings that occurred last year. Court documents reveal that Welch is implicated in the August killing of Antenio Louis, among other charges.

Louis was tragically shot and killed in a drive-by shooting while traveling down East Glenwood Avenue with a 23-year-old driver. The incident occurred when another vehicle pulled in front of them and opened fire, resulting in Louis’ death and injuries to the driver, according to authorities.

This is not the only case Welch is involved in, as he is also charged in the shooting death of another 18-year-old, Marvin Rocker, who was killed in a shootout on March 12, 2023. The authorities received reports of shots fired in the area of South Arlington Street and Lovers Lane involving multiple unidentified individuals. Rocker was later found deceased with a gunshot wound to the chest in a parking lot.

Welch, who is represented by attorney John Alexander, faces charges including murder and felonious assault in both cases. The tragic events have shaken the community and raised concerns about the escalation of violence among young individuals in Akron.

The involvement of Welch in these two deadly shootings has sparked discussions about the need for stronger measures to address gun violence and enhance safety in the community. Officials are working to ensure justice is served for the victims and their families, highlighting the importance of coming together to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.

As the cases proceed through the legal system, the Akron community remains vigilant and seeks solutions to prevent similar tragedies from happening again. The impact of these incidents on the families of the victims and the community at large underscores the ongoing efforts needed to address the root causes of violence and promote peace and security in Akron.
