ESSEX COUNTY, Va. – A tragic accident in Essex County, Virginia, resulted in the deaths of two individuals after a pick-up truck overturned on Wednesday afternoon. Virginia State Police responded to the scene of the single-vehicle crash on Tidewater Trail, where multiple fatalities occurred.
The crash, which took place around 2:42 p.m. on May 22, involved a 2003 Dodge pick-up truck pulling a small trailer that veered off the road, overturned, and ejected three passengers. The driver was also entrapped in the vehicle. Tragically, two of the passengers succumbed to their injuries at the scene of the accident.
Emergency services rushed the driver and the remaining passenger to a local hospital via MedFlight. The driver was treated and later released from the hospital, while the third passenger is still in critical condition.
Authorities are currently collaborating with the Medical Examiner’s Office to identify the deceased passengers and inform their next of kin about the tragic incident. Virginia State Police are actively investigating the crash, with pending charges as the investigation unfolds.
