Man Arrested in Connection with String of Random Attacks on Women in NYC

New York City, NY – A man accused of a series of violent attacks on women in New York City has been apprehended by authorities. Daquan Armstead, 31, was arrested and charged with third-degree assault and harassment for allegedly carrying out eight unprovoked attacks on women earlier this year.

Among the incidents linked to Armstead is an assault on a 27-year-old New York University administrator who was punched in the face while walking through Washington Square Park on April 17. The NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the case, although specific details have not been disclosed.

Armstead is also facing charges for seven other attacks in 2024. The violent spree allegedly began in February when he reportedly punched a 30-year-old woman on Elizabeth Street without warning. Subsequent attacks took place on Delancey Street, Chrystie and Rivington streets, and Stanton Street, among others.

Records show that Armstead has a prior misdemeanor assault case dating back to 2021. He is expected to be arraigned on the new charges in the coming days.

In addition to Armstead’s arrest, police have been investigating a series of other attacks on women in the city. These incidents include a brutal assault on a Brooklyn school bus aide that left her with a broken jaw and several missing teeth. The perpetrator, Franz Jeudy, 33, has been charged with misdemeanor assault in that case.

The arrest of Armstead and the ongoing investigation into other attacks highlight the importance of ensuring the safety and security of all individuals, particularly women, in urban environments. Authorities are working diligently to address these disturbing incidents and hold perpetrators accountable for their actions.
