Lake Zurich, Illinois – The identity of the individual who tragically lost his life in a home explosion in Lake Zurich has been confirmed as Timothy Toczylowski, 77. Toczylowski was found deceased after firefighters extinguished a fire at his residence on North Overhill Road. The Lake County Coroner’s Office revealed that Toczylowski’s injuries were consistent with inhaling products of combustion, according to a recent news release.
While toxicology and carbon monoxide tests are still pending, Toczylowski was positively identified through a forensic odontologist comparing the victim’s dental records. The explosion occurred around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the 23500 block of North Overhill Road. Initially unaccounted for after the explosion, Toczylowski’s body was discovered in the debris the following Wednesday morning.

Ulises Hernandez, whose security cameras recorded the incident, described hearing a loud boom that shook his house while watching television with his wife. Upon realizing that the children were outside, Hernandez immediately sprang into action, with his son Emanuel being among the children playing basketball during the blast.
