The incident unfolded around 8 p.m. on Sunday in Liverpool, a suburb located approximately 6 miles north of Syracuse. The sequence of events began when a Syracuse police officer attempted to pull over a vehicle driven by Christopher Murphy, 33. However, Murphy refused to stop, prompting a pursuit that ultimately led to the fatal confrontation in Liverpool.

Law enforcement officials were able to trace Murphy’s vehicle to a residence in Liverpool where they discovered what appeared to be firearms inside the car. As officers approached the house, they heard sounds indicating that someone inside was handling a firearm. The situation quickly escalated when Murphy opened fire, resulting in the tragic deaths of the Syracuse officer, the sheriff’s deputy, and the suspect.
