The Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from the home of the couple, where one was accused of grabbing the other by the neck and strangling them during a political dispute.
According to reports, the incident occurred after a day of arguing over politics, with the Democrat victim being called names by her Republican fiancé. The situation escalated when the man allegedly physically restrained the woman, placing his hand on her face and wrapping his other hand around her neck, cutting off her airflow and making it difficult for her to breathe. The woman reported that she was ultimately able to break free from the hold after the man let go.
Law enforcement officials noted visible marks on the victim’s neck consistent with being strangled during the altercation.
