Fatal Shooting Leaves Two Dead, Five Injured Near Washington Convention Center in D.C.

Washington, D.C. – Two individuals tragically lost their lives, and five others were injured during a shooting early Sunday morning near the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Northwest D.C.

Authorities responded to the intersection of Seventh and P Street NW around 3 a.m., where they discovered two women and three men suffering from gunshot wounds in the 600 block of P Street NW. The victims were promptly transported to local hospitals for medical treatment.

Unfortunately, two 32-year-old men, identified as Anthony Brown from Southeast, D.C., and Jay Lucks from Baltimore, Maryland, were pronounced dead at the scene. Police are still searching for at least one male suspect who fled the scene on foot and remains at large.

Executive Assistant Chief Jeffrey Carroll revealed during a press conference that preliminary information suggests that seven individuals were shot at the location, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities indicating that one or more suspects intentionally fired a firearm at the victims.
