Death investigation closes portion of I-10 in Downtown Phoenix

Phoenix, Arizona- A death investigation on Interstate 10 in downtown Phoenix led to the closure of the westbound lanes on Monday morning. The incident occurred near 7th Avenue on June 10 around 3:30 a.m.

Authorities found an adult male inside a vehicle involved in the incident, where he was treated for injuries by fire personnel. The man had sustained at least one gunshot wound, leading to his unfortunate passing at a nearby hospital.

Following the investigation, the freeway lanes have since reopened, with the medical examiner’s office tasked with determining the cause of death. Although no suspects are being sought, police have not labeled the case as a homicide investigation.

Names of those involved have not been disclosed in connection with the incident. Phoenix Police Sgt. Rob Scherer mentioned the challenges faced by commuters due to the closure, as law enforcement conducted a thorough search in the area where the incident took place.
