Off the shore of Half Moon Bay, California, tragedy struck last Sunday when a homemade plane crashed into the sea, claiming the lives of four individuals. The fourth victim of this devastating accident has been identified as Isaac Zimmern, 27, the son of a wealthy Zoom executive. His long-time girlfriend, Emma Willmer-Shiles, also perished in the tragic event.
Isaac and Emma, childhood sweethearts residing in San Francisco, were among the four victims of the fatal plane crash. The aircraft, piloted by Australian Lochie Ferrier, crashed into the sea, taking the lives of all onboard, including Ferrier’s fiancee Cassidy Petit. As of now, only Emma’s body has been found.
Isaac’s father, Johann Zimmern, is the head of Global Education Marketing at Zoom, based in San Francisco. The devastating loss of their son has left the family and the community in shock. Willmer-Shiles’ body is the only one that has been recovered, found by fishermen the morning after the crash.
The unorthodox nature of the plane complicates the investigation. The Cozy Mark IV, a four-seat light aircraft, can be built from a kit. Such home-built planes, like the Cozy aircraft, are inspected annually for airworthiness, according to Federal Aviation Administration regulations.
As investigations into the crash continue, hearts go out to the families and loved ones of the victims. The devastating impact of this tragedy will resonate within the community for years to come.
